What we are for

About us

The madrasah is where a civilisation is formed.

Madani Institute was founded in 2010 and is administered under Muhaddith-e-Azam Mission, established by Hazrat Shaykh al-Islam, Allama Mufti Sayyid Madani Ashrafi al-Jilani, and named for his father, Hazrat Shaykh Abu’l Muhamid Sayyid Muhammad, Muhaddith-e-Kichowchawi. It is now recognised as a leading Ahl us-Sunnah Islamic education centre in Preston.

A living connection with Allah and His Messenger ﷺ

Love for the Beloved ﷺ is the essence of our tradition, and the greatest way to reach it is to emulate him: children who can read what was revealed to him, understand what he taught, and walk as he walked.

Rooted knowledge

Our students will know what they believe, why they believe it, and how to practise it. Rather than abandoning parts of the tradition — Ilm al-Kalam, Mantiq and the other sciences — we preserve and teach them.

Prophetic character

The tradition has always insisted that adab is prior to knowledge. We assess character with the same seriousness as memorisation.

Knowledge that transforms

What is taught in the madrasah must not be left in it. What is taught in under two hours a day must shape all twenty-four.

Contextualised education

We are not in nineteenth-century rural India. We are in twenty-first-century Britain, with its own challenges. We face them head on.
